In the past many of us have had milk delivered to our doorstep each day at the crack of dawn by an electric milk float.
These vehicles were specifically designed to carry a heavy load for up to 30 miles or so, as silently as possible, so they didn't wake up their customers. They were an everyday sight from the late 50's onwards, however with the growth of supermarkets this has led to the virtual extinction of the iconic milk float and milkman.
Floats are now a very rare sight on our streets but these floats and the milkmen are part of our social history and need preserving and made relevant once again.
